"Tis Mine...

We walked into this vacant farm house in 2006.
Literally, within minutes we began to summarize the magic of owning this place:
  • original 1857 doors - check
  • 6 inch trim or wider trim - check
  • spacious - check
  • high ceilings - check
Then we came up the stairs, and looked into what is now our guest/sewing room....and this is what we found....

This home in need of some pretty serious TLC -- (not to mention a roof, well, tuckpointing, windows, electrical, plumbing).........but this sweet, almost Asian inspired wallpaper---- not vintage to say, but it still stole my heart.  I think in that moment, my two year old internal child came out with an, "It's mine!"

No. Turning. Back.

We owned the farm that next week.

Now I awake to this view into the guest room every morning.

Kari,
To truly appreciate the renewed beauty of that grand old lady may I suggest that you post before/after pictures, 'cause I was there and I still can't believe what you and Dave have acomplished!

Hi Kari, Thanks for posting photos of your home. It is delightful...
I met your husband today at the flea market. I was sorry to have missed you. I did go and look inside but since I have no idea what you look like I probably walked right by you. Well we will meet someday. Maybe at your barn open house..... who knows.
Enjoy your day... Dawn

Jani...very few folks were there at the start of this adventure - but yes, you were. I knew you would keep your chin up when I needed it -- our confidence had the chance to get a bit shakey -- and we needed to keep our focus on one project at a time, one doable task to check off a mile long list. Some day I will write about all that here. I will try to post some before/after photos some time too -- we didn't take many -- believe we wanted to put blinders on. Thanks, for all your support on this little dream of ours!!

Dawn...sorry I missed you at Hixton today -- Dave wanted me to pull up a seat at the flea market. My thinking on this: hot, full sun, not going to happen. I had worked the night before until almost 10:00 unloading my upstairs booth...a quiet day was in store. I had just stopped by with some lunch for Dave. We will meet some time -- maybe I will have to be holding my little Steiff bunny from my profile picture:0) Did you find anything this weekend?

No I did not purchase a thing. I did not get to look long. We had just stopped in on a whim so I could look at your booth. I am going to stop in later on in the week to check it out better. I do my best shopping when I'm not with my husband...
I don't blame you for staying. It was super hot. I hate this heat. At least it wasn't sooo terrible humid...
Well I do look forward to our meeting. Yes post a picture of you so I know WHO to look for.. My husband thinks were silly...
Have a super week, Dawn
