this is what I know
I am certain that the reason I am drawn to sweet pieces of the past is
quite simple...I am very sentimental. A postcard with a darling message
tugs deep into my heart. A chippy ironstone bowl tells me stories. Intricate
lace speaks of someone working hour after hour with careful stitches.
In this processed, "faster please" world...a little charm & age...a little
time tested character can make my eyes smile.

almost bunny time...
Even though St. Patty's Day is still here, my mind has turned to
spring...and bunnies...and, my beloved vintage Easter grass!
I have waxed poetic in the past over this green grass. I have shared
dumpster diving for this wonderful holiday goodness! And, no,
the new stuff does not come close to replicating the charm.
I do not know what it is, but I tuck it in every little basket, bowl & cup.

another keeper
I shared two "keepers" from my recent antiquing trip ~~ and
here is one more. I found this sweet rabbit valentine to sit on
a shelf with a little girl valentine I had. I truly adore everything
I love that $1.00 can purchase vintage charm.
Do you have a favorite vintage find that cost a buck or less?

blackbird singing
My newest collection....vintage Pie Birds ~ black crows
to be specific! These guys usually "nest" in my laundry room,
but for autumn they will be found in my kitchen!
I truly love everything about them! Raised head in song!
"Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise."

good morning!
You just can't plan this...sweet sweet
morning glories self seed & return each
year at our flag pole base. Here they
hug a rabbit statuary & a birdbath.
I do adore nature's surprises.
Have a great l o n g weekend!

clip clip here
Whenever I give my summer plants a "haircut", I
try to just toss the excess in my clipping bag.
But every time I do, I end up seeking out all the
little blossoms, untangling them from yard clippings...
And into the house they come.
Seeking a bit of morning light to capture these sweet pansies.
And what little nose is to the right?
My August Rose is always curious!
Sweet little faces!

May Day
Each year I think this will be the year!
I will make sweet paper cones full of flowers, hung on the back of chairs at work.
I will plant teacups with sweet pansies and surprise neighbors at their door.
Then May 1 arrives and ends.....and I make an oath that next year will be the year.
I still adore this first day of May.
I adore the idea of May poles and May baskets!
So do picture this sweet little pitcher filled with daisies...
and take this wish for the happiest of May Days.

In the early morning sun, I enjoy having
little surprises await around each corner.
I miss these sweet details when I am away.

ode to a jar
I have this wonderful affection for vintage canning jars....blue Ball brand jars are my favorite. I think that I could design an entire room around these jars and their charming color.
Today we came upon a box of jars at a thrift sale....they are washed, air dried and then will await their next job. Perhaps they will hold pecans like those in my jelly cupboard. Perhaps they will hold cat food for barn cats that visit the porch. Perhaps they will just line a windowsill so the light can reflect through just so.
Vintage canning jars ~ definitely on my top ten list.

more is more
The thing is, I adore my stuff....all my guys, all my collections. When I walk thru this big old farmhouse, they greet me at every turn with a "hey, there you are!".
My sewing room offers a true testament to the charm....just check out the sweetness on one little shelf. Makes me smile, just does...and that feels quite worthy in my little old rule book. Layers & layers of adorable!
So, which are you: "more is more" or "less is more"?

little flowers
I am in process of garden cut back & clean up. Cutting back those plants that have become just far too leggy - sometimes giving them their second chance at growth, sometimes removing them all together. It is necessary -- but never ever easy for me. So often it is my beloved pansies that by July are overhanging their pots that take the massive cut. And, putting those sweet little faces in my garden discard bag just hurts. However, trying to tease out each little flower to save takes such patience & time, then they only last a moment. Sometimes I take the time, sometimes I just close my eyes and throw. Little flowers, little plant haircuts, my oh my -- does anyone else suffer through these things like me?
