Borrowing from one of my favorite favorite quarterly magazines: Where Women Create --- I will answer their exquisite questions. Try them for yourself.
How old would you be if you did not know how old you were?
I think I would be 7 years old. I know it sounds silly, but I've thought about this before. I think that the child in each of us is always there -- I know that quiet little Kari, mom's shadow, little sister to Randi & Lori is there in me always.
What do you want you think you cannot have?
I don't know if I can ever ever be totally totally content or absolutely self-confident.
What is your favorite place in all the world?
Hands down, I am a home body......home is where my heart is. (Although I do love a multi-dealer antique mall too.)
What can you not go a single day without?
Sweet grace. To me that is kindness, no expectations, pure humility. It is actually best found in my animals...it is what I aspire to be when I grow up.
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Popcorn, couch, feather quilt, t.v. remote in my hand...watching HGTV, the Food Network or HBO. (Sometimes I can even be caught watching "Toddlers & Tiaras" or "Say Yes to the Dress".)
What is more than a gift?
Unconditional love. At the end of the day, when someone or something loves you so much that they forgive all your inadequacies -- that is it, the best of it all.
It all started when?
For me, hmmmm -- I think I am still waiting for the start line.
What inspires you to create?
I don't consider myself creative -- but I do love me a room, a bunch of vintage goodies and an idea in my head. I won't come up for air for hours.
What is the art in your every day?
My home is my canvas -- as is our farm. I feel like I am living in this wonderful dollhouse.
The endless hours you spend creating are made better only by?
I really do love sharing what I have created --and I will admit, a "wow" or "look at that" makes me feel pretty dang good. Once I have made a little vignette or alter, I love to catch glances at all the wonderfulness of it too.
Who inspires you most to be better than you are?
Family -- my peeps -- they forgive my foibles and accept me for who I am.
What color is imagination?
I am certain it is GREEN!
What do you pack to pursue your dreams and what do you leave behind?
I don't pack light -- wish I could, admire those who can. I love my stuff -- all my sweet finds...each makes me smile. Sometimes I think "If I could only keep 10 items for each holiday --what would they be?" But then I change the question to 15 items, then 20 items.....nope, I don't pack light.
What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?
Now, don't laugh -- I would be a State Senator (I'll let you guess the political party). I just know I am not thick skinned enough to do that job -- but would love to be a part of debating for a more perfect world for all. I am a political geek, and count the times I have sat in the Gallery of the House & Senate Chambers in D.C. watching the political wrangling as really awesome. And that is likely the last political thing you will read on this blog....
