vintage garden

My gardens are farm gardens....nothing fancy: day lilies, hydrangea, and a sunflower or two. First rule is, if you grow here- you must be hardy. Second rule, the plants must learn to coexist with metal chairs, a milk can or two, and any other chippy, rusty item that may just decide to call a garden a home.

And pansies absolutely call this farm home. Anyone that attended the spring barn sale might just attest to that little fact.

So, how does your garden grow?

Your flowers are so pretty. We do container gardening and had our stolen so we began again and moved everything to the backyard. Now I'm just praying I don't over or under water them.

Your pots of flowers are very pretty. I bet they will even last awhile! I love the look, but I don't pay enough attention to growing things. In our heat that is most often a fatal mistake. Looks to me like your design choices both inside and out are quite sound! :o)

LOVE your style! I have one of those rounded rusty things you show planted in the first picture. The plantings are so pretty! I love RUST in the GARDEN too! We seem to enjoy and like the same kind of flowers! From one sweetie to another....Roxie

We've learned to garden in the shade, not easy. Now if we could just teach the chippies to leave the container gardens alone we'd be great!

First of all - Christina, I think there's a special type of karma for people that are nasty enough to steal someone's flowers! I can't imagine.

My "garden grows" as a perpetual mystery. I have an enormous rose bush coming up alongside my house that I did not plant, a mysterious star gazer lily that volunteers every year, and yesterday in the middle of my johnny jumpups popped up a beautiful unexpected pink delphinium. The squirrels no doubt have a role in this, they must be planting things as fast as they pull the pansies out of my flower boxes....
