With pride

Voting is an emotional experience for me -- just is.

I once held a paper ballot to my heart before putting it in the ballot machine --
and looked up to see one of the volunteers behind the table share a knowing smile.

I don't vote out of fear or anger -- I vote based upon hope, faith & knowledge.
I am not cynical about government -- I have seen the important role it can play in helping people.

So, I called my son to remind him to come on over to our Otter Creek Town Hall to vote.

It is what we do --- with pride.

I hate to admit that I don't think I am going to like the election results -- but that is the American way. We each have a chance to pick our elected officials. The trouble is, sometimes people expect them to solve the really big problems quicker than we can solve our own smaller problems. As much as I always thought that being a United States Senator would be the best job ever -- I am not so certain of that these days...too much anger and short attention spans.
And so I vote -- about the 15th person at my township hall. Ian will vote after school and then be by tonight. I don't think I will watch the results. I guess it is time for the "other team" to see if they can do any better --- good luck.

I hear ya loud & clear. We have become a nation of "right now".
We expect immediate action, changes and solutions to problems and situations that have been brewing for awhile. We elected you, we want it fixed NOW seems to be the new American way. Getting tired of the us against them political attitude... why can't all elected officials work together for the betterment of our country? That should be the American way. Ok stepping down of my soap box now......and headed to my town hall to vote.

Kari,
I wish I could be as cool and openminded as you are about voting... but... no. I go there with my heart in my throat, knowing, just knowing, that MY GUY will win, (even if he's a she) and I'm crushed when I lose, and I've lost a lot. But hope rings eternal!
VOTE ON!
