with a smile & a wink

Four tins of pictures...a mix of life.  From dinosaurs in the Dakotas to
our first & only dog - Silver Coin to an untidy row of aunts & uncles
staring at the camera.  And the Easter pictures, rare to find one with me
in it (as below with my mom's hands on my shoulders).  Even then, I
objected to scratchy dresses & floral hats...and was often in tears just
out of camera range.
But my sisters, always smiling at the camera.  My sweet Lori & big
sis, Randi....in every picture, smiling at the camera.  From their front
row as little Wind girls, to their long hair days in the 1970s...
every photo I pulled from those tins showed my strong, capable sisters
looking life right in the eye and winking.

So, I end 2018 with a rare Kari sighting & a smile & a wink.

I thank my Randi for bringing us back together again on Saturday.
And to my Lori, of course, you will always live on in my heart.

5410 ❤️

See those numbers, right there in that bowl.  Those are the house
numbers from my childhood home.  When we closed the door there
one final time, I gently took them down.  My mom's paintbrush
strokes can still be seen.  They are a bit of my beloved past. ❤️

Minnesota antiquing

We traveled into Minnesota Saturday...antiques in our sights.

Found some wonderful Scandinavian finds...including these plates.

Oh my, look at those wooden shoes - child size!  And that box!

Added a compote, little rulers & trees.  Add in a German egg
basket and Swedish journal.  🌲

Be still my heart...a German flour holder. 💙💙

hush

Somewhere between the excitement of Halloween and the flurry
of Christmas, lies a gentle time of Thanksgiving.  I will quietly
revel in this time, reflecting on the many blessings in my life. 💚

I hope you also find quiet solace and peace.

hard worker

Our laundry room is one of the hardest working rooms in our
farmhouse.  Part utility room, gift station, antique mall storage,
and coatroom...it works hard every day.

With table at the center for folding, wrapping, unloading...with
the bonus of hidden storage underneath.

A bucket of gift wrap and market bags wait to be put to work.

Of course, collections live here too.  Our alter to the dairy farm
that made Meadowview Farm what it is. 🐄

A door to our patio and a utility chimney cupboard...and a light
from Jani!

💙💚❤️

pattern multiplied

I do enjoy looking at the white on white on white trend....BUT,
my life is too colorful to live that trend.  I am much more of a
pattern on pattern on pattern kind of gal.  Just am! ❤️

kitchen critters

Wooly albino deer next to spice drawers - of course!

A little pasture of cows - makes sense to me!

A fox with an acorn - why not?

Some of my little kitchen friends that always make me smile!

kindness connects

I like getting up early on Sundays to just ponder on things over
a cup of coffee in my cozy embrace of a home.  This morning,
I wrapped in an added layer of warmth...this autumn crocheted
coverlet.  This coverlet had arrived at the front desk of my office
five years ago from a client.  It was her way of passing on get well
wishes to me.  I was heading into my third surgery to attempt to
eradicate the evasive breast cancer that surgeries 1 & 2 had missed.

This morning as I wrapped myself in the warmth of Deb's sweet
kindness, I was reminded of all the love I received five years ago
from so many others.  It lifted me through hard days and still
fills my heart.

Just like the care that went into crocheting each stitch of this
coverlet, kindness connects.  In a world where you can be
anything, be kind.  It matters!

P.S. On October 17, I will celebrate 5 years breast cancer free.
Early detection matters too! ❤️

birds in hats...of course

I found these bird cards at a sweet shop called Willow on Water
Street in Eau Claire.  The artist decided that if birds could create
such exquisite nests, then surely exquisite hats were not out of
the question.  I kind of love that thought.

collecting comes easy!

On my current list of vintage finds are inkwells!  But I am a
tad picky (as usual) about which ones find their way home.

The brown pottery inkwell was from my spring trip to
Washington...so a souvenir too!
