Halloween magic...

I was recently with my sisters...part of our outing was at an antique mall.
We reminisced about the boxed costumes of our childhood, the ones with those
plastic masks held on by an elastic band.  We checked out the price on the
plastic Halloween candy containers that decorated the picture window in
our Healy Lane home.

I still decorate my home for Halloween...even though trick or treaters are
nonexistent in the country.  I still love the autumn orange and the pumpkin
faces.

And decorations from my childhood still make me smile...

blackbirds

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
                    All your life
You were only waiting for the moment to arise

to happiness

I will never treat October as just any month.  This is the month when
Dave & I were married...and 4 years ago, it was the month of my final
surgery in my breast cancer journey.  So, as October begins, I send out
my reminder that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
And, early detection truly matters.
